From there you might see lots of possibilities and you may want to choose your own topic based on what you see there. However, at a minimum, you should have a look at the statistics on fatalities. These are broken down by different phases in the conflict.

A possible essay topic is to use the Dirty War Index (lecture 7) to analyse the fatalities data. (If you are eager to get started you could read the article assigned for Week 9 on the Dirty War Index.)
